Hard to believe Ethan is 18 months old.  I put a few new pics together of my sweet baby boy.

Ethan is much more of a ham at this age than Emma was.  

They are about the same size at 18 months and as you can see Ethan towers over the crib.  Luckily, he has not tried to climb out yet!

Ethan loves the outdoors and he was darn proud of himself when he discovered how to mow the lawn.  Dann will have him pushing the real thing by 2 years... lol!

I think Ethan loves Emma's hat more than she does.  Actually, any hat is a favorite to put on and run around the house in.

I thought this photo was cute of him eating watermelon.

Again, if it's not a hat, it is a popped rubber ball.

He ran around with this ball on his head for hours.  He cried when Dann took it away.

1) 10 years ago, Dann and I were living in our first house/condo together in Calgary (we moved in March 1997 and living in sin) While living in sin, Dann popped the question, thus I was busy planning our wedding day, which had been set for the fall (Sept 1998).



2) One year ago, I had just joined Weight Watchers (3 weeks into the program) and wondering if I would reach my goal (65 pounds). Some hard work and dedication let me surpass my goal and to date I am down 79 lbs!!


3) 5 snacks I like: ice cream (bad), chips (worse), french fries (again, really bad), chocolate (are you seeing a pattern?) and finally... popcorn, which is the only snack I seem to have on a regular bases now... low calorie and it fills me up. I still treat myself to the other 4 items, just not as often as before and in a lot smaller portions (after all, a girl has to live).


4) If I was a millionaire, I would give my family some $$, pay off all our bills, invest some $$, give some $$ to charity and then I would quit my gov't gigg and open a beautiful B&B in a tropical location (I know Dann would be on board as well).


5) My 5 Bad Habits are: being lazy at times, procrastinating, putting my fingers in my mouth (tapping my nails on my teeth... not biting them but they are still in my mouth), indulging too much at times, and buying shoes or anything else for that matter.


6) 5 things I like to do: go for a walk "alone", shop... for anything, travel to new places, meet new people, and watch t.v.


7) 5 things I would never wear again: volleyball shorts (aka: bum huggers... what was I thinking?), silk disco coat for roller skating, neon socks/nylons, big hair/bangs, and straight leg stretchy jeans. The 80's were not kind to a lot of people, but the music was awesome!!


8) My 5 favorite toys (I'll keep this clean): my kitchen aid mixer, my (Dann's) Starbucks coffee maker, all my scrapbook items I create with, my digital camera, my foot messager.

Easter Tea Party

I forgot to blog these photos...

Emma hosted a lovely Easter Tea Party for Grandma, Papa & myself.  

It was a hoot to see my dad sit down on the "little" chairs in the play room.

Papa had apple pie with cheese, Grandma had chocolate pudding and I ate grapes...a long with tea of course!

We all had fun, including our darling waitress Emma!

Happy Easter

I went to the liquor store to buy some wine for Easter dinner.  I have not really gone "shopping" at a booze store since College.  There was an "Easter Sale" on at a local liquor store and I got excited! I think I have a shopping problem, cause I was at the liquor store & I was thrown things in the cart cause it was on sale (I recall in College when a bunch of us bought a case of Bourbon cause it was a buck a bottle... good deal for a starving College student on a budget).  

I found this French Chardonnay called:

FAT BASTARD!

I had to buy it cause of the name 

(it was on sale too).

Anyhoo... $85.00 later, I left the liquor store with 3 bottles of wine, a bottle of Crown Royal, a bottle of Smirnoff Grand Cosmopolitan, and a bottle of Jose Cuervo Margarita.

My parents joined us this week for Easter and they were so happy to see the kids.  It's been a while since they last saw Ethan (Thanksgiving) so they really saw a lot of changes in him. 

Ethan loves to read books on your lap and he wasted no time getting up on Papa's lap for a little story time.

Easter morning started out early... 7:00 a.m. (if Emma had her way, she would have been hunting for eggs at 6:00 a.m.).  

Ethan got into opening the eggs too this year... much to Emma's dismay.  Lucky for her, he was happy with one or two.

I think Emma ate a pound of chocolate eggs today.  

(I wish I could have ate that many!).

All the hunting and walking to the park tired my babe out.  He was having his morning snack and fell a sleep in his high chair.

Up to bed he went and slept 3 1/2 hours.

 

Emma looked spectacular in her new Easter dress.

Emma & Ethan got this adorable singing puppy from Great-Grandma for Easter.  Ethan fell in love with it and carried it around all day.  It really was cute to see.

Another Diaper Cake

A friend of ours had a baby boy on February 29...

A Leap Year Baby!!

I decided to make her a diaper cake, as this wonderful babe is her fourth (2 girls, 2 boys), thus I figured she has just about everything!!

I loved how this one turned out.

If I had more time in my life, I might start selling them...

instead, I will make them for friends & family!

February Update

Because I am slow and seem to have very little time these days, I figured I would group the month of February together and fill you in on what we have been up to. 

Emma went to the dentist for a check-up and cleaning.  She did very well and had no cavities... yay!!

Emma & Ethan still love Rowena's noodle dishes as you can see from Ethan's mess, he could not shovel them in fast enough!

As you can also see, Ethan is needing a hair cut very badly!

The deep freeze finally left us and Emma's cabin fever was over.  She enjoyed an afternoon playing in the snow with her dad.  They made this snow man together, but I think Dann had more fun building it.

A friend of ours cuts hair at her house, so we took the kids for a "much needed" hair cut.  They both did well and the price was right... $10 bucks a head!

Both of my boys were sick this past week.  

Dann with a bad cold and flu and Ethan with an ear infection, bad cold and cutting three teeth.

Needless to say, Tylenol & Advil were their best friend... mine too!  

I think they are both slowly on the mend.

I had to take Ethan to the hospital last Monday though.  He was so sick!!  After 5 hours in Emergency, which included chest x-rays, blood & urine samples, medication and an over all check-up, the Doc ruled out pneumonia and sent me home with a prescription for his ear infection.  

Poor little guy....

Mamma's boy is not feeling well here.  

His eyes say it all!

Even days after his meds, Ethan is still not his happy-go-lucky self (but he put forth such an effort to try and smile)!

My girlfriend (co-worker) just had a baby girl and myself and another girl from work hosted a baby shower for the new mommy today.

I remember years ago on "Sex & the City", I believe Miranda received a diaper cake at her baby shower.  I had since forgotten about this until my friend Janny brought it up when we were chattin' this week.  She told me to look up "diaper cakes" on the Internet, so I did.  The cakes were very cute (but very expensive). 

I decided I should try putting one together for my friend's baby shower.

Dann helped me build it last night, and this was the end result...

Not bad for the first attempt!

Now I want more of my friends to "give birth" so I can make more!

Here are the cupcakes Holly & I made for the baby shower.  We got the idea out of a Martha Stewart Baby Mag.  Although Martha's resembled baby lambs a bit better, we thought they turned out well for two "cupcake lamb makin' virgins"... lol!

The final pic is of the guest of honer... Brooklyn. 

She received her first dolly and grasped onto it while she slept so peacefully in a friend's arms.

It's F'Cold

Update...

Dann is never really happy, unless he is doing a "fix it" job in the home.  When we moved in, the tile in the kitchen had a pink hue to it... now I "LOVE" pink, just not in my kitchen.  

Dann set out to fix the problem.  Instead of ripping out the old tile (which means the dry wall rips out too, then you have to replace the dry wall before you start tiling), Dann found a thin, 2x2 square, neutral beige tile which he laid over top of the existing pink tile.  He still has to grout (chestnut brown) but the tile made the world of difference in my kitchen.  I love my handy husband!!

On a different note, I tried Ethan's rain coat & boots on last night (if you recall, there was a picture of him sporting this outfit when he was 1 month old - baby gift from Shelly).  Well it fits now and looks soooo sweet!  I cannot wait for it to rain.  This may be a while since we woke up to....

-50*C... what the HELL is that?  

Emma still trooped out to the swimming pool for her swim lessons.  She is doing 100% better than this time last year.  She is floating (front & back), doing front & back glides, and the  front crawl... holy cow.  

Her instructor said Emma is doing things that are required in level 3 (she is still in Sunfish - 4 levels away from level 3).  Anyway, I had to brag a bit, cause I thought Emma would never get it!!

shoes & more

I went out shopping for "me" on Thursday afternoon.  A local shop had a 50-70% off sale on all their winter stock, so shopping I did go!!

I bought a couple of tops, a great brown Tommy sweater and two pairs of jeans.  It was fun trying on a bunch of new items, but hard to decide which I loved most.  I was so excited about the super deals I got, I popped in next door to a little shoe shop.

I found the most lovely pair of shoes... I just had to buy them (not sure where I will wear them, but I needed them).  

There was a famous line on one of my favorite T.V. shows, Sex & The City, when Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie) is looking at a pair of "Christian Louboutin" shoes, or was it a pair of "Louis Vuitton", anyway, Carrie says, "Hello Lover".

Well, that is what I said when my eye caught these fabulous "Anne Klein" red patten shoes.

Oh my gosh... I had to buy them, and they were 60% off (good deal).  I put them on my feet and I felt like Dorthy on the Wizard of Oz!!

Now I know they are no Louboutin or Jimmy Choo's, but lets face it, my salary cannot afford those works of art.  Never the less, I will settle for my "Willa's" by Anne Klein (great name hey Jenny)!!

I FREAK'IN LOVE THEM!!

On a different note, here are a couple photos of my boy, looking so darn cute. 

He loves putting on hats and modeling them for the camera.

He also loved the bow on Emma's birthday present.  Ethan is very photogenic... oh my pretty boy baby!

Here a couple pics of Emma's birthday party @ the bowling alley (a few weeks late).

Everyone had fun and the kids brought donations to the food bank instead of gifts (although some could not help themselves, and brought Emma a little gift as well).  The whole point is to teach Emma about giving back to her community and to give to the less fortunate.  She gets so many gifts from family, she truly does not need anymore.

Emma was so proud when she delivered the big box of food to the food bank, and they are always so thankful!

Emma got this great "Little Mermaid" costume from Uncle Dean, Auntie Claudia, Chandler & Richelle for her B-Day.  A lady on the Island makes them, and it is amazing the detail put into it!

Emma had to be Ariel as soon as she opened it.

Emma got a "Baby Alive" from Grandma & Papa B for her B-Day.  She was so excited as she has been asking for one for over a year!

I told her that she had to us her piggy-bank money to buy the food and diapers for her.  Emma accepts this, and it will teach her a bit about how much things cost.

Emma also got a cute little puppy from Grandma & Papa H.  It's like a Webkin, which you have to register on the Internet.  Emma loves anything to do with animals these days, so it was a hit.

Once again, that brings you up to date on what we have been doing the last few weeks.  Working really has put a damper on my bloggin' time, but I have to make the money so I can spend it on shoes and handbags (a girl can never have too many of these items).
